Clair Obscur Sweeps at the 2025 Golden Joystick Awards
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the most decorated winner. This breakout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive earned the esteemed Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Superb Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Enhancing the developer's success, its skilled performers also were honored with personal awards. Jennifer English received Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Actor for his work as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive the studio was named Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its developers achieved seven awards during the ceremony.
Other standout winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Top Sound Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Outstanding Independent Game and PC Game of the Year. Notably, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the audience, with only 4 special—Critics’ Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame, and Streamer Selection—judged by experts.
