Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”

This update on his health comes as the global fight fans offered condolences for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
